The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), with candidates now able to check their results through the official NECO result portal.
A total of 1,371,992 candidates sat for the examination out of 1,378,048 registered candidates.
According to NECO, 804,948 candidates (58.67%) obtained at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, while 1,126,118 candidates (84.70%) obtained five credits and above regardless of English Language and Mathematics.
How to Check Your 2026 NECO Result
Step 1 — Visit the NECO result portal
Go to the official NECO result-checking portal:
👉 results.neco.gov.ng
Step 2 — Select the examination year
Select 2026 as your examination year.
Then choose the appropriate examination type, such as SSCE Internal, depending on the examination you took.
Step 3 — Enter your Result Checking Token
Enter your NECO Result Checking Token in the required field.
Don’t have a token? You can purchase one through the official NECO result portal by following the payment instructions.
Step 4 — Enter your registration number
Carefully enter your NECO registration number and double-check the information for errors.
Step 5 — Check your result
Click on “Check Result”.
If the details entered are correct, your 2026 NECO SSCE result should appear on the screen.

Don’t panic. Try these:
🔹 Confirm that you selected 2026 as the examination year.
🔹 Check that you selected the correct examination type.
🔹 Re-enter your registration number carefully.
🔹 Confirm that your result-checking token is correct.
🔹 Make sure your internet connection is stable and try again.

📉 NECO Reports Drop in Examination Malpractice
NECO also reported that cases of examination malpractice dropped significantly, with 1,496 candidates involved in 2026 compared with 3,878 candidates in 2025.
The NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, attributed part of the decline to the adoption of computer-based examinations.
