NDLEA WARNS ABOUT DRUG-LACED COOKIES AND GUMMIES
Parents, schools and young Nigerians are being urged to be more careful about unfamiliar cookies, gummies and other food products following warnings from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
Some drug-containing products can be made to look like ordinary sweets or snacks. This creates a serious concern, particularly for children and teenagers who may consume them without knowing what they contain.
The warning also highlights the influence of social media and peer pressure on young people’s choices.
A product being popular online does not automatically mean it is safe.
Students are encouraged not to accept unknown food, drinks or substances from strangers or consume products when they are unsure about their contents.
