SUPER FALCONS KNOCKED OUT OF WAFCON BY CAMEROON

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have suffered a painful exit from the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after losing 1–0 to Cameroon in the quarter-final.

The defeat ended Nigeria’s hopes of defending the continental title they won previously and brought an unexpected end to their campaign.

The Super Falcons had entered the quarter-final with confidence after recording an impressive 6–2 victory over Egypt in their final group match. Many Nigerian fans were therefore hopeful that the team would continue its journey toward another trophy.

However, Cameroon proved to be a difficult opponent and secured the narrow victory needed to eliminate the defending champions.

Despite the disappointment, the Super Falcons remain one of Africa’s most successful women’s football teams. Their journey has also continued to inspire young Nigerian girls interested in football and professional sports.

The defeat is certainly painful for Nigerian supporters, but it is also a reminder that in football, reputation alone cannot guarantee victory.
