The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Joint Campus Group of Lagos State-owned universities, has declared an indefinite strike across the three institutions in the state.
The affected universities are Lagos State University (LASU), Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) and Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH).
The union announced the strike on Tuesday following the expiration of a 14-day ultimatum issued to the Lagos State Government on August 31.
ASUU said the ultimatum expired without a satisfactory resolution or a concrete plan from the state government to address its demands.
In a statement signed by officials of the union at the three universities, ASUU said the government failed to initiate dialogue before the September 13 deadline.
The union identified its major demand as the full domestication and implementation of the December 2025 ASUU-Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN) agreement across the state-owned universities.
It said the agreement includes the implementation of the Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance and other welfare provisions for serving and retired academic staff.
According to the union, the strike will remain in force until meaningful engagement produces a satisfactory resolution and the agreement is domesticated and implemented.
ASUU, which said the industrial action had the backing of its national leadership, urged students and parents to remain calm and law-abiding.
